Library Digitization Initiative Committee (L-DISC)



Mandate of Library Digitization Initiative Steering Committee (L-DISC), 2009.

The Library Digitization Initiatives Steering Committee is responsible for the selection and prioritizing of Memorial University Libraries' materials for digitization, guiding library workers through the project process and reporting to the Branch Heads Committee on digitization matters. The committee will

i. Identify potential library digitization projects and maintain an inventory of these projects;

ii. Share information about the progress of current digitization projects with the University Libraries;

iii. Make recommendations on prioritization of projects and staff resources; make recommendations on alternative access points, in addition to those on the DAI site.

iv. Act as an information conduit between the University Libraries and the staff of the DAI, and promote the collections of the DAI to library users;

v. Consider other digitization matters outside of DAI projects, such as preservation;

vi. Establish and maintain guiding principles and best practices for digitization projects;
