Enumeration and chronology in serial item recordsIn cases where a periodical has continuous volume numbering, the volume numbering should appear immediately after |z, followed by the year of publication.
1993 is vol. 19; 1994 is vol. 20, etc.

In cases where each edition has multiple volumes, the year of publication should appear immediately after |z, followed by the volume number.
Each edition has 2 vols. (1995, v. 1-2; 1996, v. 1- 2, etc.)

For most titles issued in editions, don t include the edition number in the item record, just use the date followed by the volume as is the case for monograph editions. Exceptions are when there is more than one edition in a year or when different vols. Of an edition are published in different years.
The 19th edition, 1995-96 has 8 vols.

If an item without volume numbering is published more than once a year, the year should precede the month, season, day, etc., in the item record to insure that at least items for each year file together:
