Loeb Classical Library

Since the Library of Congress has chosen to carry the main series "Loeb Classical Library" only including the numbering, our decision to continue to trace the subseries "Latin authors" and "Greek authors" without numbering has led to serious inconsistencies in the catalog. Therefore, similar to our decision regarding the Bibliotheca scriptorum Graecorum et Romanorum Teubneriana, we will henceforth follow LC practice for this series. Cross-references will be added to the authority record on UNICORN for each of the subseries and the series authority cards will be updated to reflect this change.

Please note, however, that we will continue to adhere to our established classification policy for the titles in this series:

  • All titles will have either 440 or 830 for Loeb classical library with appropriate numbering.

  • Use PA 3611 for Greek authors with author/main entry Cutter and arbitrary volume number as before.

  • Use PA 6156 for Latin authors with author/main entry Cutter and arbitrary volume number as before.
