Browse indexes

In the Browse indexes, display, indexing, and linking ("Like") can be done on the basis of individual subfields. In many cases we have chosen to turn off subfielded information from public view, particularly for the authority control subfields (|w and |?), although for 245 we have turned off all subfields except |a and |b. This has caused some problems with serials in particular, where |n and |p are critical in describing a part of a larger work.

The "Words or Phrase" index looks at the whole MARC record, although it too seems to follow the subfield exclusions from the browse indexes.
