Browse indexes

Since the introduction of version 8 of Unicorn, displaying, indexing, and linking ("Like") has been done on the basis of individual subfields. Indexing can also be done using values in the field indicator positions. The lists that follow are specific as to fields and subfields which are accessible in the browse indexes rebuilt after implementation of version 8 in December 1996. Keyword indexes

In the KUNI database (BRS) certain fields have been preassigned to the author, title, series, periodical and subject indexes on delivery. We can assign additional fields to these indexes using the keyword index variations by assigning them to one of the keyword synonyms such as "TITL" or "AUTH".

The following lists name the MARC fields which have been included or excluded from the "General" keyword index. These can be searched either with a field name qualifier in brackets restricting the search to that occurences of that field alone, or without, which causes the search to look at the entire MARC record. If you find that the field tag alone does not result in matches or in an error message you may need to use the "T" prefix. Hence for a search of Web URLs in 856, you would ask for "www.netlibrary.com {T856}".
