Glossary of Unicorn-related terms
- ADUTEXT= Unicorn bibliographic record
indexing report. This adds index pointers to authors, titles,
subjects, etc. contained in newly added or edited records. This
is run in tandem with ADUAUTH, the authority indexing report.
- A NAME="ADUAUTH">ADUAUTH= Unicorn authority record
indexing report. This adds index pointers to names and subjects
newly added or edited within Unicorn. Runs in tandem with
ADUTEXT, the bibliographic indexing report.
- Call record= a holding record defining
class number and scheme, volumes and locations
- Copy record= item or circulation (barcode
level) record
- Control number= number, sometimes known
as "flexkey", which Unicorn uses to enable overlays. May or may
not be same as 001 and/or the actual system number for the
record. The actual system number can be discovered by allowing an
auto barcode or call number to be generated. The number before
the hyphen is the actual system number.
- Descriptive information= MARC fixed- and
variable-length fields which display below the line labelled
TITLE INFORMATION when using EDIT or CREATE ITEM
- Flexkey= Control number used to mask
system-supplied underlying control number for overlay purposes.
- Remove= drop or delete a copy, call or
title record from the system.
- Title record= base system record which
establishes title CONTROL NUMBER and around which call, copy, and
descriptive records revolve
