Nymphozanthus variegatus (Engelm.) Fernald; Nymphaea advena Ait. Var. variegata; N. variegata G. S. Miller. Very large leaves, floating and under water, on long stalks from large root-stocks. Leaves with closed sinus. Flowers yellow, tinged with purple. Six unequal petals.–N. Amer., Nfld.–July

Smaller leaves than variegatus. Showy yellow flowers. Bright red stigma with fewer rays. Fruit contracted above.–Gullies, N. Amer., Nfld.–July.

Slender root-stock. Thin leaves, four or five inches, on slender stalks. Flowers one inch or less broad; yellow; five sepals; dark red stigmas. Fruit round; short neck.–Boggy ponds, N. Amer., Ayre. New to Nfld.–August.
