Many thousands of species found all over the world. They largely depend on insects for pollination. The flower is usually in six parts; three sepals resemble three petals. One of the petals, the lip, usually dilated, sometimes enlarged at base into a spur. Perennials, often with tubers for roots. The Greek name.
