BARBERRY.

Berberis vulgaris (Tourn.) L. Acid shrub, about six feet. Drooping branches with long sharp thorns (reduced leaves). Racemes unpleasant smelling flowers. Hard red berries; two or three seeds.–From Europe. Naturalised N. Amer. And Nfld. Probably introduced Britain.–June. Arabic name.
