Perennial, about six inches. Acid flavour. Leaves about half inch. Flowers in clusters of about two or three on slender stalks.--Alpine plant. Europe, Mts. Britain, Asia, N. Amer., W. Nfld.

Rather purplish perennial, two to three feet. Large flat, bluish-green leaves, slightly wavy margins. Lower ones nearly one foot. Flowers loosely whorled. Grain solitary.--Wet, sometimes brackish places, Alaska, Labrador, N. Amer.
